New Beginnings

Long time no see my Pleasant Notice readers! I hope all is well in your lives and now it's time to pick up where we left off!! For me, things have been extremely busy and I'm getting over a situation that for a moment, kind of devastated me. But from the help of close friends, loved ones, and my own self esteem kicking in, I'm slowly but surely picking up the pieces and moving on. Want to know what hurt the most about it all? I felt like such a failure. I felt like I failed not only myself but also kind of embarrassed altogether. Was this really happening ? And if so, how and why to me of all people? I soon enough realized the only thing that mattered at that point, which was I tried my best, and I only came up short. It's not the end of the world and it's not the end of me. That moment doesn't define who I am and what I have to offer. AND THAT'S LIFE. I'm not going to be perfect at everything I do. I'm going to make mistakes......a lot of them......and that's okay. Life has a funny way of teaching you lessons you will need later on in years to come and whether they be good or bad, don't let it overpower you and steal your joy. Some days won't be your best days but they aren't your only days. You have experiences, not regrets. You learn, you grow, and you move on.

Goodbye Summer Vacay, You Will Be Missed

Hey everyone! Sadly for those of us in school, summer vacation is coming to an end. I hope everyone had a great summer and that you made the most out of it the best you knew how! My summer was pretty good and I'm actually eager to start this semester of school. I will be in my third year of college and I must say that I can't believe how fast time has went by. It feels like just yesterday I was graduating high school and eager to start off my freshman year of college.

My main focus for this school year is to make my academics a main priority and actually apply myself more. I know that my grades in the past have been good but they could have been wayyyyyyyyy better. I also want to get a lot more involved on campus and be a lot more open minded to try new things.

I am determined to make this school year like no other and to enjoy it the best I can. My college experience so far has been a blast and I want to continue to make memories that will last a lifetime. I have the mindset for it, now all there is to do is do it.

So what about my Pleasant Notice readers? What are your goals for this school year? Are you nervous about anything? Excited? Need advice? Comment below or email Pleasant Notice at pleasantnotice@gmail.com

Live for Today

When you're a kid, all you want is freedom. To be able to do what you want, when you want. You have all these day to day fantasies of what you want your life to be, all the things you will do, and all the people you might meet. Instead of enjoying your childhood and living for that moment, you are too busy thinking about your adult life and how cool it would be.

The days of your childhood quickly disappear and before you know it, you have graduated high school and you are faced with the reality of a world you weren't ready for. Its like a slap in the face. You then realize how easy you had it and for a moment, you want it all back...

For me, the hardest part about growing up is not being totally sure what my life will be like. The unknown itself freaks me out. Ten years ago today, I would not have guessed my life to be what it is now. So much has happened I didn't expect, and it either left me crying or just satisfied things worked out in the long run. But what I've learned throughout these past twenty years is that I can't stop living for today, worrying about tomorrow. I have to take risks. Sometimes they will pay off and sometimes they won't. And if not, I have to pick myself up and move on. I've learned not to have regrets but to have experiences. To smile more and worry less. Growing up and becoming an adult is the life I wanted, so I have to deal with all the hurdles life will throw at me. That freedom I wanted? Yeah, It comes with a price. But in the end, it'll be worth it.

Where Did It Go?

We've all done it. There has been a time when we look in our wallets and say, "I thought I had more money than this." Nine times out of ten we probably even blamed it on ourselves saying either we dropped it or misplaced it somehow. Sometimes we even go as far as saying someone else had to take it. But once we start analyzing our spending habits over the past week or month we come to one conclusion............that you spent it. Yup, all of it. And over what? Nothing in your mind but "nothing" has cost one huge hole in your wallet that you clearly can't afford at the time. Those late night Mcdonalds rides have finally caught up to you along with other expenses that could've waited. So what now? You sure don't want to call your parents for a few dollars so they can lecture you into a talk about money management and you already owe your friends enough money as it is. Yup you're screwed.

It's not the end of the road though. Eventually you'll get back on your feet and pay back the tab to your family and friends and all will be behind you. We aren't perfect and sometimes we will fall off financially and need the help of family and friends from time to time. The thing is not making the same mistake twice. Somewhere down the line you need to look at your spending habits and prioritize whats important and whats not important. Trust me, the Big Mac can wait.

I was taught the hard way how to make better spending choices. Last summer I worked a very tiresome job and over our lunch break, I would basically buy a quick snack or sandwich from these vending machines they had. That was for about 3 months. After I left the job prior to school starting, I looked at my account and saw exactly how much I had spent in that 3 month time period. You guys would not believe how much I spent on chips, candy, drinks, and sandwiches on vending machines when I could have easily made a lunch from home or bought actual food in bundles at a store for a cheap price. I had spent over $200 dollars on these vending machines and I was so shocked because being a college student isn't cheap and I could have used that money on something far more important or saved that all together.

And that's life. I learned my lesson and I paid better attention to all my expenses from that point on. I'm sharing that story because I don't want someone to make the same mistake I did. Remember to be careful and catch your spending habits early on before its too late.  Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize!! I can't stress that enough. Don't waste money on things that you know you can do without because you never know when you might be left in a tight situation. Always prepare yourself for a rainy day.

So what are some things you believe you waste money on? Tell Pleasant Notice about a time that made you watch your spending habits for the better. Comment below or email PN at pleasantnotice@gmail.com

What's Your Purpose?

Morning everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th on yesterday and I most definitely know I did. It
was the perfect time to spend some much needed quality time with my family and see the fireworks display at a nearby park. We even popped the ones my mother bought when we got back home and that was a blast as well. If you want, you can share your 4th of July experience by emailing PN at pleasantnotice@gmail.com

So back to the main topic of today. In the past couple of weeks I've had major reality checks that have put my life into perspective and I've had plenty of time to think about what exactly I want to do with my life and not in my life. What do I mean exactly? Well, there are many things I can do in my life, like get a six figure job, travel the world, and live the ultimate American Dream. On the other hand, how does any of that benefit others or the world? Not a thing in my opinion. So what do I want to do with my life? Hope this doesn't sound too cliche but I always wanted to give back to my community and other people around the world. I want to help other people reach their goals and full potential in life. Growing up, I can't recall a time anyone gave back to my school or kept their word on doing something for the community. I don't want to be that person and I don't plan on being that person. I truly want to make a difference and that's only part of what I believe my purpose is. My journey to achieve things such as this will be long and hard but I know it will be worth it.

What's your purpose?

What's Your Idea of A Great Night??

Hey!! I hope everyone is doing great! I know I've been M.I.A so lets talk, catch up, and discuss the topic for today. Everything is going great for me right now, I recently celebrated my 20th birthday and it was amazing. I'm really enjoying life right now and I can't wait to see where things go for me from here. I must admit that I've been suffering from writer's block which is the reason why I haven't posted for the past like two weeks. But I'm pushing and I'm going to try my best to make myself write something for you guys so all I ask is for patience and if anyone has any ideas or news they want me to cover, just comment below or email Pleasant Notice at pleasantnotice@gmail.com

So with it being the summer time and all, now is the perfect time for you guys to grab your closest friends and own the night! We owe it to ourselves to go out, forget the stress of everyday life, and have a great time.  I personally love getting ready for a great party or night out with my girls. As I get ready, I play music which more than likely consist of a station on Pandora, find a cute outfit or dress to wear, do my hair, nails, makeup, take pictures with the girls, and leave with high expectations of everything going by smoothly. Sadly, we know that always doesn't happen or isn't the case. There have been times I've gone out and came back to my room highly disappointed by how things turned out. My main thought is, "I wasted money and this cute outfit for nothing." And that's the chance you take when you go out. But if you could create the perfect night out with friends, what would you want to happen the moment you left your place? Comment below or email Pleasant Notice at pleasantnotice@gmail.com cause we want to hear all about it!!

JC's Corner

Hey everyone! Hope you guys have taken my advice in being productive this summer and taking advantage of each of every moment! I just wanted to say that I'm very happy about the wonderful feedback Pleasant Notice has received over the past few weeks and I can't wait to see where we go from here. With that being said, I just wanted to further encourage everyone in following their dreams and not to let anyone take that away from you. Even though my blog is new and I've talked about positive feedback, I've also received not so great reactions as well. So how do I deal with that? I laugh it off and keep it moving. One thing my mom always taught me and is probably something I will say a lot on here is, "You can kill a person with kindness." You can't let others steal your joy and keep you from doing what you love. You have to take the high road and look at the big picture. That's what I do and that's something I will continue to do. My blog isn't perfect and it doesn't measure up right now to people who have done this way longer than me and people who have really made a successful career out of this YET but it WILL. I have the potential to reach an audience I can only dream of, and one day this little blog that started from nothing could change my life forever and for the better. This isn't easy and its not suppose to be. I'm learning that and trust and believe that sometimes I feel discouraged but I have to want this for me and keep pushing myself each and every moment. So for all of you out there saying this or that is standing between you and your dreams, JC wants to tell you that you're wrong. The only person standing between you and your dreams is YOU. So stop the excuses, pick yourself up, and go chase your dreams!!

Love JC
